PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite a slow second half, the No. 22 LC State Women's Basketball team cruised to its fifth straight victory on Friday night with a 91-78 win over Multnomah University.
Callie Stevens scored 17 points in the first half to help spark the Warrior offense and help push the Warriors to a 17-3 record overall, 11-3 in Cascade Conference play.

"Aside from the third quarter, we were pretty good offensively," Head Coach
Brian Orr said. "On the other end, our defense was a step slow all night. We didn't pressure the ball and that slowed our rotation. Multnomah came alive in the second half and our inefficiency in the third frame helped them get going. Tomorrow we need to pick up our level of intensity."

True to her form all season,
Callie Stevens opened the scoring with a 3-pointer in the opening minutes of the first quarter. She made it five points 20 seconds later with a layup to put the Warriors up 5-2 early in the contest.
Maddie Holm went back-to-back with Stevens to keep the foot on the gas for LC State. Free throws and another 3 gave the sophomore 12 points in the first five minutes of the game, and made it 16-8 in favor of the Warriors.

LC State led 25-16 after the first 10 minutes; Stevens with 14 of the 25.

Hannah Broyles kept things rolling with a triple to start the second frame. A 3 by
Rachel Schroeder and layup by Broyles added on to bring the score to 33-19 midway through the quarter. Stevens kept pouring it in, and
Heidi Sellmann and Clabby went back-to-back to give LC a 40-25 lead at the break.

Broyles opened the second half with another 3 to keep the momentum going for LC State.
Sara Muehlhausen added a basket for the Warriors in the span of 30 seconds to grow the lead to 45-32. Broyles completed a three-point play at 5:20 to give LC State a 49-34 advantage.

Stevens was fouled on a 3-point attempt and drained all three free throws before assisting Sander on a layup as the cushion continued to grow. By the end of the third quarter, the Warriors led 63-46.

Back-to-back 3s from Stevens and Schroeder opened the final frame before a layup by Holm made it 71-49 90 seconds in. Multnomah took advantage of Warrior fouls to pull within 10, 85-75, with a minute left, but contributions from Schroeder, Broyles, Holm, Muehlhausen, Clabby and Sander held off any further comeback.

Stevens led all scorers with 24 points including a 4-for-5 night from behind the 3-point line. Broyles added 13 points, and Holm and Sander each scored 11. Muehlhausen notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Clabby dished five assists and Holm dealt four.

As a team the Warriors shot 44.3 percent from the floor and made 11 3-pointers.

LC State continues the Portland trip on Saturday with a contest at Warner Pacific slated for 3 p.m.
