Warrior Women Make it Rain From 3 in Rout of Wolves

LEWISTON, Idaho – The No. 22 Warrior women tied a single-game record with 19 made 3-pointers in a dominant victory over the visiting Walla Walla University Wolves on Tuesday night. The midweek matchup saw LC State improve its record to 21-3 overall, 15-3 in Cascade Conference play, by a final of 92-40.

The Warriors lit it up from beyond the 3-point line, led by a career-high six triples by Callie Stevens. Rachel Schroeder drained a career-best four 3-pointers, Hannah Broyles hit three, and Maddie Holm, Ellie Sander and Adyson Clabby each made two. The 19 total 3s ties the record set in 2002, and was done efficiently with a 52.8 3-point percentage.

"The girls did a tremendous job sharing the basketball, running the floor and knocking down the 3-point shot," Associate Head Coach Caelyn Orlandi said. "We love to see 24 assists on 34 made field goals. Adyson did a great job distributing the ball with her nine assists, and to do it with no turnovers was fantastic. Our girls really did a good job of taking care of the basketball and I am really pleased about the overall team effort and win tonight."

LC State took control early with an 11-0 run that featured a 3 by Holm and two from Stevens. Another run of 10 had the Warriors ahead 21-3 at 3:40 in the first quarter, and the first 10 minutes wrapped up with LC up 26-9.

A triple by Schroeder opened the second before a 10-point rally, capped by 3s from Broyles and Clabby, made it a 41-12 advantage with 1:28 to play in the half. Clabby closed out the frame with a triple to send LC into the locker room leading 44-15.

The Warriors opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run and headed into the final period with a 64-27 advantage.

The first LC points of the last quarter came on four straight 3-pointers from Schroeder, Sander, Broyles and Stevens. Stevens drained back-to-backs treys to continue the offensive charge before the Warriors closed out the contest 92-40.

Stevens led all scorers with 26 points. She was 9-for-12 from the field, 6-for-8 from 3 and dished out four assists. Holm finished with 14 points, nine boards, four steals and three assists, and Broyles dropped 13 points to go with two steals. Schroeder totaled 12 points, all on 3s, and Sander netted 10 points with eight rebounds. Clabby dealt nine assists and had two steals.

As a team, LC State shot 51.5 percent from the field and 52.8 percent (19-for-36) from 3. They had just five turnovers to 24 assists and tallied 10 steals. The defense held the Wolves to 25 percent shooting from the floor.

Isabella Robles led WWU with 13 points, Clara Wiltgen totaled 12 and Holly Harrison grabbed seven rebounds.

The Warriors hit the road this weekend to take on Bushnell and Corban. With a Southern Oregon victory tonight, LC sits tied atop the CCC leaderboard with the Raiders. The Warriors are scheduled to host SOU on Feb. 18 in the P1FCU Activity Center.
