MEN'S RATING INDEX | WOMEN'S RATING INDEX
NEW ORLEANS – With stellar starts to the 2022 outdoor season, both Lewis-Clark State Track and Field teams are currently in the top 10 of the USTFCCCA Outdoor Track and Field Rating Indexes. The men are rated No. 4 in the NAIA, while the women check in at No. 7.
Three LC State men currently hold top marks in the NAIA in their respective events.
Connor Turpin got the season started with a 1:11:10 time in the half marathon,
Leon Menten hit a distance of 63.60m in the javelin and
Christian Bothwell tallied a total of 5,944 points in the decathlon. The trio totaled 88.36 points in the three events alone, and Clayton VakDyke's 800m mark added 31.22. His time of 1:51.33 is second in the NAIA and set a school record. The LC men have a total of 223.95 points and are the highest-rated team in the Cascade Conference.
Three Warrior women have punched their tickets to nationals with automatic marks, led by
Jennah Carpenter's height of 1.67m in the high jump. The school record is currently third in the NAIA and garnered LC 29.98 points in the rating index.
Cynthia Smith, though just short of a qualifying mark, is third in the pole vault (3.40m) for 28.48 points. Gerladin Correa (800m, 2:16.75) and
Ashley Britt (400m hurdles, 1;03.46) both rank fourth in the NAIA in their events, with Britt's mark hitting the B standard.
Madigan Kelly is sixth in the 100m hurdles with an A standard time of 14.41, and
Kea Stieglitz also hit an automatic mark with a throw of 40.52m in the javelin. Both are in the top 10.
Anika Grogan rounds out the national-qualifiers with a provisional time of 57.01 in the 400m, the eighth-best in the NAIA this season. The women have a total of 216.19 points and are second in the Cascade Conference in the rating index.
LC state is in action this weekend at the NNU Invite and Multi in Nampa, Idaho.
