Men's Track and Field | 04.21.2022

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Six LC State Track and Field student-athletes opened competition at the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Multi-Event Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, on Thursday. The men completed five events in the decathlon, while the women competed in four heptathlon events. Both will wrap up on Friday.

"Kind of an up-and-down day for us," coach Cyrus Hall said. "I thought we competed very well, both men and women, but we left some points on the board."

THE MEN
Christian Bothwell is currently the highest-positioned Warrior decathlete in fifth place with 3,179 points. The junior finished fifth in the 400m (52.33), sixth in the high jump (1.81m), and seventh in the 100m dash (11.77), long jump (6.09m) and shot put (10.74m).

Caleb Moore currently sits in eighth place with 2,795 points. He was second in the shot put (11.77m), eighth in the high jump (1.69m), ninth in the long jump (5.69m) and 400m (56.70) and 10th in the 100m dash (12.19).

Freshman Ian Gardom is in ninth with 2,498 points. He placed fourth in the high jump (1.84m) and eighth in the 100m dash (11.95), long jump (5.89m) and 400m (54.65). He did not earn points in the shot put.

"Christian had a great today, probably the best day he's had since he's been a Warrior," Hall said. "He is on pace to score over 6,000 points tomorrow if he competes like he did today. He might even make a run at the school record. He was great today. Caleb and Ian were pretty good. They are sitting in eighth and ninth, and anything can happen tomorrow. We might be able to score in three spots on the men's side."

THE WOMEN
Sara Hathaway is in sixth in the heptathlon with 2,646 points. She finished fifth in the 100m hurdles (15.26), sixth in the 200m dash (26.62) seventh in the high jump (1.55m) and 12th in the shot put (8.26m).

Jennah Carpenter currently sits seventh with 2,624 points. She was sixth in the 100m hurdles (15.45) and in the high jump (1.58m), ninth in the 200m dash (27.43m) and 11th in the shot put (8.83m).

Freshman Makayla McIntosh is 12th with 2,374 points. She placed seventh in the shot put (9.35m), ninth in the 100m hurdles (15.80), 11th in the 200m dash (27.94) and 14th in the high jump (1.40m).

"I thought the women did pretty well," Hall said. "Jennah didn't have her A-game in the high jump, but she PRd in the hurdles and in the 200m. Makayla had an awesome day, she was good across the board. It was really good to see her have some success. Sara was good. Considering the time she missed with an injury, she looked good today."

Both the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon conclude on Friday.
