ASHLAND, Ore. – LC State Track and Field will open competition on Friday at the two-day Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, hosted by Southern Oregon. A large squad is ready to represent the Warriors in Oregon and they look to capitalize on one of the final opportunities to compete against conference opponents. The meet will also give athletes a final opportunity to hit a national-qualifying standard, which would extend their season. All-conference honors will be awarded to the top three in each event.
 
"As always, we are looking forward to the conference championships," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "Although it will be a little odd as we feel like we really have not left the indoor/winter season as we have not had any meets all spring where we had 'spring-like' weather. Hoping for good conditions and good results in Ashland.
 
"In general, I think our team goals will be to try and finish in the top four of the conference on both sides. With the schedule challenges due to academics and graduation, we always go into conference at less than full strength," Collins continued. "That aside, we have a number of athletes that will have opportunities to earn individual and relay conference titles and all-conference recognition. Should be a fun weekend and I know we are ready to go."
 
THE WOMEN
In the 200m dash, program record-holder Anika Grogan is seeded second with a time of 24.88. Grogan is also seeded third in the 400m at 57.01.
 
Freshman standout Madigan Kelly is seeded second in the 100m hurdles with a school-record time of 14.12. Sara Hathaway is seeded fifth (14.84), Ashley Britt has an eight seed (15.13) and Jennah Carpenter is an 11 seed (15.45).
 
Britt holds the conference's top time in the 400m hurdles heading into the weekend with a time of 1:03.46. Hathaway is seeded third (1:04.58) and Kelly enters as a fifth seed (1:06.16).
 
In distance events, Geraldin Correa is seeded second in the 800m with a time of 2:16.75. Fifth-year senior Emily Adams is seeded sixth in the 1500m with her time of 4:45.03. Madison Howe will compete in the 10,000m with a seventh seed (43:37.87). Grace McCormick is seeded 11th in the 3,000m steeplechase (12:36.06) and Abigail Peightal follows as a 12th seed (12:46.10).
 
Freshman Carpenter is seeded second in high jump with her LC-best ark of 1.67m. Hathaway is seeded fifth at 1.59m. Carpenter is seeded sixth in long jump with a mark of 5.39m. Sydnie Zywina is seeded third in triple jump (10.71m) and Alexa Horsley is seeded ninth in the event (10.23m).
 
In javelin, returning All-American Kea Stieglitz is seeded seventh with her throw of 40.53m. Cynthia Smith, an all-conference earner in the event last year, is seeded second in pole vault with a height of 3.45m.
 
The 4x100m relay team of Britt, Grogan, Carpenter and Kelly is seeded third with a time of 48.25. The 4x400m relay team of Hathaway, Britt, Kelly, and Grogan is seeded second with a time of 3:58.84.
 
THE MEN
Indoor 800m National Champion Clayton VanDyke holds the top seed in the outdoor 800m with a dominant time of 1:49.43. Carter Gordon is seeded 11th in the event at 1:56.44. VanDyke is also seeded first in the 1500m (3:49.15) and Griffin Parsells will join him with a ninth seed and a time of 3:56.25.
 
Cole Olsen is seeded third in the 5,000m with a time of 14:40.86. Chase Barrow will join Olsen in the event with an eighth seed (14:55.30). The duo will also run the 10,000m, with Olsen seeded first (30:47.10) and Barrow seeded third (31:48.29). Connor Turpin will also run the 10,000m, seeded tenth with a time of (32:45.70).
 
In the 200m dash, London Kirk is seeded first with a time of 21.77 and is also took the top seed in the 400m with a time of 48.73.
 
Ike Hopper is seeded third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.44. Caleb Moore is seeded fifth (17.71) and Christian Bothwell earned an eighth seed (16.14). Hopper will also compete in the 400m hurdles, where he is seeded second ((54.67).
 
Brycen Brown is seeded sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:52.70.
 
In field events, Nik Bertling is seeded third in pole vault with a height of 4.73m. Zayne Maughan enters as a seventh seed with a mark of 4.52m. Ian Gardom is seeded ninth in high jump with his mark of 1.85m. Gardom is seeded seventh in triple jump with a mark of 13.03m.
 
In the hammer throw, Jaycob Atencio is seeded eighth (45.23m).
 
The 4x400m relay team of Kirk, Gordon, VanDyke, and Hopper is seeded second with a time of 3:21.70.
