Bertling and Hathaway Hit Provisional Standards in Montana

RESULTS

MISSOULA, Mont.
– Lewis-Clark State Track and Field picked up two provisional marks for nationals at the Tom Gage Classic, hosted by the University of Montana, on Saturday. Nikolous Bertling set a program record and hit a B standard in the pole vault, while Sara Hathaway raced her way to a B mark in the 400m hurdles.
 
THE MEN
Bertling set a program record and hit a national-qualifying mark in the pole vault with a height of 4.73m. He finished third in the event, Zayne Maughan was seventh (4.13m) and Moore was ninth (3.98m).
 
Clayton VanDyke won the 800m, filled with athletes from NCAA Division I programs, with a time of 1:50.52. Carter Gordon was 14th (1:56.77), Cooper Carlson was 19th (1:58.40), Conner May finished 26th (2:01.70), Tristan Wood took 28th (2:02.75) and Brycen Brown finished 31st (2:05.90).
 
Cole Olsen won the 5,000m, besting the competition by 14 seconds (14:52.49). Brady Nelson was fifth (15.53.54).
 
May led the Warriors in the 1,500m, finished seventh with a time of (4:02.95).
 
The only Warrior in action in the hurdles for the men, Caleb Moore placed fourth in the 110m edition with a time of (15.90). Jon Warwick leaped a distance of 5.11m in the long jump for a seventh-place finish.
 
Tucker Cone represented the Warrior men in the 100m dash, placing eighth with a time of 12.11. Jaxson Blaker was 10th in the 200m (24.18) and ninth in the 400m (53.35).
 
In the throwing events, Jack Hardee was 16th in the shot put (11.09m), 21st in the discus (28.22m) and 20th in the hammer (39.59m). Moore was 19th in the discus (34.03m) and 17th in the javelin (39.86m), while Warwick was 16th in the javelin (41.09m).
 
THE WOMEN
Hathaway hit a national-qualifying standard in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.47 (1:04.57 with altitude conversion). She finished second in the event, while Keelyn Pilcher was fifth (1:08.11) and Makayla McIntosh was seventh (1:12.98). Hathaway was the top Warrior in the 100m hurdles as well, finishing fifth with a time of 15.44. Jennah Carpenter was sixth (15.70), McIntosh was seventh (15.87) and Pilcher placed ninth (16.35).
 
Geraldin Correa earned a second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:17.88. Maja Plaznik took 10th (2:23.51), Rylee Brown was 11th (2:24.98), Emily Adams placed 12th (2:25.17) and Brooklyn Shell was 14th (2:27.05). Adams went on to take fifth 4:48.35 and Grace McCormick placed 23rd (5:24.84). Madison Howe finished eighth in the 5,000m (20:46.90).
 
In the sprints, Alexa Horsley took fourth in the 400m (1:06.20). Cynthia Smith finished 12th in the 200m (28.01) and Kenlie Connor was 15th (30.66). Desiree Winslow was 12th in the 100m dash (12.30.).
 
Two Warriors competed in the 3,000m steeplechase, with Abigail Peightal finishing fifth (12:55.36) and Rainey Gallup was sixth (13:47.14).
 
In field events, Carpenter was fifth in the high jump (1.56m), Hathaway was seventh (1.51m) and Kea Stieglitz took 11th (1.41m). Smith hit a height of 3.13m in the pole vault to finish 10th. Carpenter also competed in the long jump, placing fifth with a distance of 5.11m. McIntosh was eighth (4.77m), and Sydnie Zywina tied her school record with a triple jump mark of 10.71m.
 
Stieglitz led the Warrior women in the shot put with a throw of 9.69m to take 12th. McIntosh was 14th (9.35m), Cassidy Henderson was 15th (9.14m) and Rylie Overton was 16th (8.00m). Overton was 19th in the discus (27.84m) and Henderson was 20th (27.17m). The pair also competed in the hammer throw where Overton was 19th (31.60m) and Henderson was 20th (31.28m).
 
A returning All-American in the event, Stieglitz placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 40.53m. Overton was 17th (25.88m), Conner took 19th (22.73m), Pilcher was 20th (22.42m) and Horsley was 21st (19.50m).
 
UP NEXT
The Warriors wrap up the regular season at the Whitworth Last Chance on May 11. The Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, will take place May 13-14 in Ashland, Ore.
