Warriors Sweep Warner Pacific to Close Out Road Slate

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warrior Volleyball wrapped up its regular-season road slate on Saturday with a dominant sweep of Warner Pacific University. LC State commanded the court with scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-13 and hit .313 as a team.
 
With the win, LC State improves to 10-15 on the season and 9-11 in Cascade Conference play. The Warriors have two matches remaining on the schedule ahead of the CCC postseason tournament.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
A block by Anna Merrill and Karissa Lindner accounted for the first point of the night before each added a kill to give the Warriors an early 4-1 edge. Kills by Juliauna Forgach Aguilar and Missy Mortensen and a block by Mortensen and Merrill fueled a run to make it 13-3. Back-to-back kills by Kierstyn York pushed the lead to 16-5 and Mortensen and Gianna Anderson added a kill each to keep the advantage at double-digits at 19-9. Kenzie Dean dealt an ace at 22-10 before kills by Katie Rainville and Forgach Aguilar ended the frame 25-13.
 
Anderson sparked a 6-0 run to open the second set, fueled by kills by Mortensen, Forgach Aguilar and Merrill and an ace by Dean. Forgach Aguilar added another three kills to go with an ace by Natany Felix Guimareaes and kill by Rainville to make it 11-5. Mortensen tallied a kill to start a 7-2 run, and another two swings by Forgach Aguilar ended the set by a commanding 25-9 score.
 
Sofie Langer started the third frame with an ace before Merrill and Mortensen notched kills to make it a 4-3 lead. Forgach Aguilar continued her offensive barrage with two kills to push the advantage to 7-4. Three straight kills by Rainville, York and Anderson were followed by an ace by Makenzie Stout for an 11-5 lead. LC rattled off another run of three with an ace by Esther Kailiponi and swings by Anderson and York at 15-6. Rainville and Forgach Aguilar went back-to-back as part of a five-point run at 23-10 before Forgach Aguilar ended the match at 25-13.
 
Forgach Aguilar led the match with 16 kills on a .324 attack percentage. Anderson added nine (.250) and Mortensen tallied seven (.583). Abbey Neff dished out 16 assists and Felix Guimaraes collected 11 digs.
 
UP NEXT
The Warriors conclude the regular season next weekend when they host No. 3 Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho.
