RESULTS
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jennah Carpenter earned the second All-American honor of her career to open competition at the 2023 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Thursday. The sophomore from Lewiston made LC State history, and she still has more action ahead of her this weekend.
"We had a great first day of competition," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "Unfortunately, in some cases we competed great, but others had even better days. We focus on what we can control and our results look pretty good with that."
Two school records fell including Carpenter's mark in the pentathlon. The men's 4x800m relay shattered the previous program best. The women's distance medley relay ran its best race of the season, and
Christian Bothwell began his competition in the heptathlon.
"I can't say enough as to how proud of these kids I am, and also my assistant coaches," Collins added. "Kurtis (Bonner), Jacob (Whittaker) and Matt (Kelley) have done a ton of work and no way would we be where we are without them, and special shout out to LHS coach Stuffle who has been working with our hurdlers on a volunteer basis. This is a team sport and it takes a team effort by everyone for individual successes to occur."
