MARION, Ind. – LC State Track and Field added two All-American honors to its history on Thursday with accolades in the decathlon and men's 4x800m relay.
Christian Bothwell became the Warriors' first decathlete to finish in the top eight at the national meet and set a school record in the process.
"A pretty good day two," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "All-Americans in the 4x800 and decathlon, and London (Kirk) making the final of 400m were definitely highlights of the day."
Bothwell set personal-bests in the javelin (48.97m) and 1,500m (4:48.33) to finish in the top five of both events. He finished eighth overall with a school-record total of 6,500 points.
Justin Krabbenhoft placed 11
th with 6,274 points. His PRed in the discus (32.30m) and javelin (42.40m).
Caleb Moore finished 16
th with 5,643 points.
The men's 4x800m relay team of
Kobe Wessels,
Conner May,
Carter Gordon and
Griffen Parsells ran the sixth-best time in the final at 7:40.03. The team earned All-American honors.
London Kirk punched his ticket to the final in the 400m with a time of 48.28. He finished sixth in the prelims.
Though missing the final by one spot,
Madigan Kelly made history when she broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles. The Lewiston native clocked a time of 14.08 to placed 10
th in the prelims.
"Madigan just missing the final in the 100m hurdles is disappointing, but she PRed and set another school record despite a small stumble out of the blocks," Collins explained.
Sydnie Zywina finished 16
th overall in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.56m.
Griffen Parsells was 14
th in the 800m (1:54.25) and the team of
Anika Grogan,
Sara Hathaway,
Jennah Carpenter and
Emily Collins placed 28
th (3:57.14) in the women's 4x400m relay.
"Very proud of our 4x400m relay women," Collins said. "An injury forced us to jumble the lineup some and despite that they finished well above their seed coming into the race."

The 2023 season concludes on Friday with six Warriors in event finals.
Nikolous Bertling will close out his career in the pole vault and
Ashley Britt will race one last time in the 400m hurdles. Junior
Ike Hopper will run in the men's edition of the 400m hurdles, Kirk will run the 400m and
Trenton Johnson will make his national debut in the triple jump. Sophomore Carpenter will look to defend her indoor high jump title in the outdoor event.
