NEW ORLEANS – Eighteen LC State Track and Field student-athletes earned the title of USTFCCCA All-Academic, announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday. Both Warrior programs earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status as well. The LC men finished the year with a 3.39 grade point average and the women maintained a 3.45.
To be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 and have achieved a national-qualifying mark for either the indoor or outdoor season. To be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a program must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
"We continue to be proud of the hard work both in and out of competition of our student-athletes," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "This is a very notable award as it is a combination of athletics, as you had to compete at national level at the national championships, and also perform at a high level in the classroom. My kids set the bar high for themselves and each other and it is great to see them clear it."
