NEW ORLEANS – Warrior Track and Field student-athletes continued to excel both in competition and in the classroom in the 2023-24 school year, evident by another round of academic praise from the USTFCCCA (United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association). Both Lewis-Clark State programs garnered recognition as All-Academic Teams, while nine women and five men earned individual honors as All-Academic Athletes.
"As always, excited and proud to see our students getting the recognition they deserve for the hard work they put into all of their endeavors both in the classroom, practice and competition," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "Couldn't be happier for them."
The Warrior women finished the 2023-24 school year with a team cumulative grade point average of 3.60, while the men reached a mark of 3.36. In order to be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's eligibility certificate for indoor and/or outdoor track and field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
In order to be earn the individual honor, as student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition and have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
Seniors
Sara Hathaway,
Brooklyn Shell and
Kea Stieglitz led the group of LC State women to earn the award, as did juniors
Jennah Carpenter,
Madigan Kelly and
Sydnie Zywina. Sophomores
Emily Collins and
Grace Tiegs, along with freshman
Aubree Williams, also met the requirements.
On the men's side,
Brycen Brown represented the seniors with juniors
Carter Gordon and
London Kirk also earning recognition. Sophomores
Jedidiah Barnaby and
Trenton Johnson each brought home the award.
