RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – Warrior Men's Track and Field found success on Saturday with multiple career-bests and edits to the record book at the Inland Northwest Invitational at The Podium.
"No new national qualifiers today but a good day nonetheless," coach
Mike Collins said. "A lot of PRs for many of the athletes and a lot of season-bests as well, so we saw a lot of progress today which is what we want to see at this point in the season. New names in some of the records here and there so we feel pretty good about where we are at. We've got some things to work on and we will definitely be working on them and hopefully next weekend, we will see our national team grow a little bit."
Kobe Wessels ran a personal-best time of 4:16.42 in the mile to finish fourth in the field.
Connor Alexander was 12
th (4:27.36).
Jedidiah Barnaby led a large group of sprinters in the 60m dash. The junior placed fourth in the prelim with a time of 7.00 with
Preston Cooper in 10
th (7.12).
Ike Hopper was 51
st (7.52),
James Bogdanowicz ran a personal-best time of 7.53 to finish 52
nd,
Perry Severijnse was 55
th (7.64) and
Brandon Decker was 60
th (7.95).
Senior
London Kirk raced in the 400m and finished second with a time of 48.62.
Griffen Parsells was 11
th in the 800m (1:56.72) and Cooper placed ninth in the 200m (22.34). Wessels was also in action in the 3,000m where he placed 25
th with a time of 8:52.27.
Tristin O'Brien was 38
th (9:09.35) in the competitive field.
Ben Vernon (fifth, 9:28.14),
Manuel Valdez (sixth, 9:38.27) and
Jace Joslyn (ninth, 10:08.26) ran in an earlier section.
Cooper, Kirk, Parsells and
Trenton Johnson teamed up in the 4x400m relay and were just shy of a national mark. The group placed second overall with a time of 3:20.42 which ranks third in the LC State record book.
In field events,
Jr Mendoza was 34
th in the shot put (12.01m) and in the weight throw (9.88m).
Sam Weller led the group in the weight throw in 26
th (12.29m) and
Tanner Beltz-Childs was 30
th (11.48m).
Cameron Carrera was 17
th in the long jump (5.98m) and Hopper was 18
th with a PR of 5.91m. Both competed in the high jump where Carrera was 11
th (1.76m) and Hopper cleared a career-best a matching height.
Bogdanowicz finished 12
th in the pole vault (4.21m) and Decker was 17
th with a personal-best mark of 4.06m.
