Men’s Track and Field Earns Two National Standards as Warriors Close Regular Season

BOISE, Idaho – LC State Men's Track and Field closed out the regular season with student-athletes at Boise State's Ed Jacoby Invitational and the WSU Invitational. The Warriors earned a pair of new national qualifying marks and Trenton Johnson bettered his school record in the triple jump.
 
ED JACOBY INVITATIONAL - Results
Johnson broke his own record and hit a national mark in the triple jump to highlight a solid day for the senior. He leapt 14.84m, which ranks in the top 15 in the NAIA, to win the triple jump in Boise. Bryan Kinene finished second (13.74m), Collin Wimer was sixth (13.05m) and Max Funk placed ninth (11.76m). Johnson went on to place third in the long jump (6.76m) with Camden Koerner in fifth (6.65m) and Funk in 18th (5.83m).
 
Perry Severijnse clinched his return to outdoor nationals with a monster throw in the javelin. He threw his implement 60.68m for a provisional standard to win the event at the meet.
 
LC State sprinters made edits to the record book in the 100m and 200m. Preston Cooper bettered his time that ranks third at LC State in the 100m (10.76) to place sixth and Wimer moved up to fourth all-time with his time of 10.83 to finish ninth. Koerner ran a PR to finish 14th (10.98) and Luke Siler was 21st (11.37).
 
Wimer moved up to second all-time in the 200m with a time of 21.60 to place second at the meet. Cooper was 11th (21.96), Avery Seal finished 15th with a personal best (22.47), Koerner placed 21st (22.86) and Siler was 24th (23.02). Seal was also 14th in the 400m (51.32).
 
Ian Roeber led the group of throwers in the hammer and joined the record book with his throw. He hit a mark of 46.26m, which ranks fifth all-time at LC State, to place 13th in the event. Alexzander Lambson (18th, 41.27m), Zane Hearne (20th, 40.09m) and Micah Fox (25th, 33.95m) all had personal bests.
 
Hearne was fourth in the discus (47.30m) and Lambson placed 11th (42.65m). Hearne also led the Warriors in the shot put in 20th place with a PR (12.92m) and Fox was 22nd (12.24m).
 
Tristin O'Brien ran a PR in the 800m with a time of 1:58.76 to place 14th and Manuel Valdez was 22nd (2:19.84).
 
Ben Vernon finished second in the 3,000m steeplechase (13:11.72). Alexander Fry led LC State in the 5,000m with a second-place finish (16:25.59) with Connor Alexander in third (16:36.09) and Dawson Welliver was fourth (17:33.00).
 
Aidan Grenier placed fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.44) and ninth in the 400m hurdles (57.14).
 
Brandon Decker finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 4.05m and Isahi Salinas was 12th in the high jump (1.75m).
 
The Warriors closed out the track portion of the meet in the 1,500m. Kobe Wessels was the top LC State finisher in ninth place (4:04.64), Tristin O'Brien was 17th (4:08.35) and Welliver placed 26th (4:52.68).
 
WSU INVITATIONAL - Results
Cole Arlint finished second overall in the javelin throw with a 51.50m throw and Reid Thomas was fifth in the shot put (14.72m).
 
Thomas' results for the hammer throw will be available at a later time.
