RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – The LC State Men's Track and Field team had two athletes hit provisional standards and saw nine personal bests to highlight the Jeff Rahn Classic, hosted by Whitworth on Friday.
Griffen Parsells ran one of the best 800m races in the NAIA this season for his national mark, and
Perry Severijnse repeated his standard in the javelin.
"Another good day for Warrior Track and Field," coach
Mike Collins said. "We didn't have any new national qualifiers, but we definitely had a lot of season bests and personal bests. Making progress is a huge thing when it comes to week-by-week analysis of what we are trying to do. I'm really encouraged right now with where we are at as a lot of the athletes moved up in the NAIA national rankings."
Parsells ran his best 800m and the second-best in the NAIA this season with a B-standard time of 1:50.71. The time ranks third in the Warrior record book and earned him a second-place finish at the meet.
Tristin O'Brien also ran a personal best (2:00.89) to finish 16
th,
Kobe Wessels was 21
st (2:03.04) and
Manuel Valdez was 26
th (2:18.48).
Severijnse hit the B standard in the javelin once again with a mark of 58.37m to win the event.
Caleb Sprenger placed seventh (48.83m).
The men's 4x100m relay squad ran the third-fastest time in school history to place third in the field. The team of
Preston Cooper,
Trenton Johnson,
Jordan Castillo and
James Bogdanowicz clocked a time of 42.40. Johnson went on to place second in the triple jump (14.35m).
Bogdanowicz ran a personal best time in the 100m (11.45) where he led LC State in 15
th place.
Tanner Sibert was 17
th with a PR of 11.76 and
Brandon Decker was 20
th (12.38). Bogdanowicz led the Warriors in the pole vault in fifth place (4.30m) and Decker was eighth (3.85m).
Castillo led the Warriors in the 200m with a fifth-place finish (22.23). Cooper was sixth (22.25), Bogdanowicz placed 19
th (23.71) and Sibert was 21
st (24.46).
Freshman
Cameron Carrara had a busy day that included three personal bests. He ran a PR in the 110m hurdles and crossed the line in 16.92 to finish eighth, then cleared a career best 1.76m in the high jump to place seventh. He ended his meet with a PR of 29.76m to place 26
th in the discus.
Connor Alexander shaved 25 seconds off his best time in the 5,000m to place 10
th in the event with a time of 15:24.91.
Wessels was 23
rd in 1,500m (3:59.68) and
Jace Joslyn ran a personal-best time of 4:49.11 to place 46
th. Valdez was the first Warrior on the track for the men and finished fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:49.37).
Sam Weller finished 16
th in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.08m and
Tanner Beltz-Childs was 20
th (39.11m).
Max Funk finished ninth in the long jump (5.30m).
The Warriors had a pair of 4x400m relay squads run to wrap up the meet. The A team of Johnson, Parsells, Wessels and O'Brien won the event with a time of 3:30.29. The B team of
Alexander Fry, Valdez, Decker and Alexander was fifth (3:54.53).
