Bogdanowicz Joins Record Book, Sprinters Get Faster at Whitworth Twilight

RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – Warrior Men's Track and Field edited the record book on Thursday at the Whitworth Twilight with career bests in multiple events. LC State gets stronger with every meet as the postseason comes into view.  
 
"We continue to see great progress," coach Mike Collins said. "Some new names etched into our records and a few athletes starting to knock on the door of qualifying for nationals. Our sprinters did well. We are building some momentum that I hope continues to grow as we approach championships."
 
Griffen Parsells ran another national standard in the 800m. He won the event at the meet with a time of 1:51.36. Tristin O'Brien was 16th (2:01.82) and Clay Shumaker was 20th (2:03.70).
 
Sprinters Preston Cooper and Jordan Castillo both had career days on the track. Cooper ran the third-fastest 100m in program history to place second (10.89) and Castillo was third with the fourth-best time (10.92). Perry Severijnse was 10th (11.82) in the 100m and 17th in his first discus (31.86m).
 
Castillo led the Warriors in the 200m with the third-best time in program history to place second (21.77). Cooper ran the fifth-best time by a Warrior to finish fifth (22.05), and Tanner Sibert also ran a PR to place 15th (23.92).
 
The LC State pole vaulters both had career days. James Bogdanowicz put his name in the record book with the fourth-best vault by a Warrior (4.51m) to win the event at the meet, and Brandon Decker also hit a PR at 4.06m to place seventh.
 
Senior London Kirk won the 400m at the meet with a season-best time of 48.35.
 
Caleb Sprenger bettered his career-best in the javelin with a throw of 53.86m to place fifth at the meet. He ranks third all-time at LC State. Sprenger led the Warriors in the high jump. He cleared a height of 1.81m in his LC State debut in the event to place fifth. Ian Gardom was seventh (1.76m) and Max Funk finished 10th (1.71m). Tanner Beltz-Childs was 15th in the hammer throw (37.08m.).
 
Bogdanowicz was fifth in the long jump (5.48m) and Funk was seventh (5.37m).
 
Connor Alexander got the day started with an eighth-place finish in the 10,000m. He crossed the line with a time of 33:58.38. Jace Joslyn raced in the 1,500m and ran a PR of 4:47.45 to finish 20th.
 
Ben Vernon led the Warriors in the 5,000m in eighth place (16:03.59). Jacon Adams was ninth (17:24.50) and Manuel Valdez was 10th (17:53.03).
 
The team of Bogdanowicz, Parsells, Sibert and Valdez placed third in the 4x400m relay (3:47.64).
