RESULTS
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Both LC State Men's Track and Field athletes finished in the top eight at the Cascade Conference multi championships on Friday. Trenton Johnson placed fifth in his first decathlon and Cameron Carrara was seventh to both score points for the Warriors ahead of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank.

"Could not be more pleased with the results today," coach Mike Collins said. "Going into the meet we were just hoping to steal a point or two and to have both guys finish as well as they did is exciting."

Johnson totaled 5,601 points while Carrara scored a season-best 5,232 in just his second decathlon.

"Cameron improved by almost 500 points from his first multi which is almost unheard of," Collins explained. "He is a great athlete and as a freshman we are really looking forward to what is ahead for him. And what more can you say about TJ (Johnson). He had to talk me into letting him do this and for him to finish fifth is amazing to say the least. We may have to do some serious thinking in looking ahead to his senior year. He could be really good if we work on his weaker events. I am extremely proud of both of these young men. They represented the school and their teammates well, and Coach Bonner has done a tremendous job in coaching them."

Johnson concluded his first multi with a win in the 1,500m. The former cross country runner crossed the line in 4:35.86, almost 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. He was seventh in the javelin (35.81m), ninth in the pole vault (3.30m) and 110m hurdles (18.20) and 10th in the discus (22.92m).

Carrara had a PR in all five of his events on Friday. The freshman had his best finish in the javelin where he placed third (42.56m). He was fourth in the 1,500m (5:12.36) and discus (30.23m), fifth in the 110m hurdles (16.87) and 11th in the pole vault (2.50m).
