RESULTS
PULLMAN, Wash. – LC State Track and Field opened its weekend in Pullman at the Cougar Classic on Friday.
Sydnie Zywina became the first Warrior to clinch an automatic standard this season with a massive leap in the triple jump.
"A blasé day for us today," coach
Mike Collins said. "Highlights were definitely our two triple jumpers. Some good performances in the sprints, but otherwise, just a so-so day. Hopefully we regroup tonight, get some rest and get after it tomorrow."
Zywina completed the ninth best triple jump in the NAIA this season with a mark of 12.02m. She won the event at the meet with her automatic qualifying mark for the NAIA championships.
Trenton Johnson had a season-best triple jump of 14.39m to place third at the meet. The mark is the second best in the Cascade Conference this season.
Damaris Kibiwot was the lone Warrior woman in the 5,000m run. She finished fifth with a time of 18:25.96.
Connor Alexander led the men at that distance, also in fifth place (15:48.55).
Kobe Wessels finished sixth (16:19.52),
Ben Vernon was seventh (16:27.97) and
Alexander Fry placed eighth (16:45.30).
Jordan Castillo was the top Warrior in the 200m. He was sixth (22.01),
Preston Cooper placed seventh (22.15) and
Tanner Sibert was eighth (24.29).
Emily Collins was in action in the women's 200m where she finished ninth overall (25.86).
Grace Osborne led the LC State throwing group on the day with an 11
th-place finish in the discus. She hit a mark of 35.71m and
Haylee Appleford was 13
th (35.08m).
Hope Zollman finished 14
th (32.46m) and
Jacklin Linnemeyer was 15
th (29.74m).
Freshman
Jr Mendoza made his collegiate debut in the discus where he placed 15
th. He threw his implement 34.44m.
