Men's Track and Field | 07.23.2025

NEW ORLEANS – Warrior Track and Field student-athletes continued to excel both in competition and in the classroom in the 2024-25 school year, evident by another round of academic praise from the USTFCCCA (United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association). Both Lewis-Clark State programs garnered recognition as All-Academic Teams, while four women and six men earned individual honors as All-Academic Athletes.

"Always a sense of pride when I see students performing well in an all-around way," coach Mike Collins said. "This recognition focuses on the academics, but for the individuals you have to be competing at the national level to even be nominated. Very cool to see both of our teams so high in the GPA rankings with the men's team in the top 10 and the women's in the top 15. We strive to perform at the highest levels and work hard to accomplish it. Great to see the hard work pay off."

The Warrior men finished the 2024-25 school year with a team cumulative grade point average of 3.49, which tied for fifth-best in the NAIA, while the women reached a mark of 3.60 which ranked 13th. In order to be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's eligibility certificate for indoor and/or outdoor track and field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

In order to be earn the individual honor, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition and have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.

Senior Sydnie Zywina led the group of LC State women to earn the award, along with juniors Emily Collins, Grace Tiegs and Camille Ussher.

On the men's side, senior London Kirk earned the honor as did juniors Jedidiah Barnaby, Trenton Johnson, Tristin O'Brien and Kobe Wessels. Sophomore Perry Severijnse brought home his first career accolade as well.
