Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Dawson Welliver | Sports Information Intern

Warrior Women Top Whitman for Fourth Consecutive Victory

LEWISTON, Idaho – LC State Women's Tennis, receiving votes in the national poll, cruised past NCAA Division III opponent Whitman 6-1 to close out an undefeated weekend on Sunday. The win marked the fourth straight for the Warrior women.
 
Rylie Gettmann and Lulu Monnayoo led the Warriors off with a 6-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Naiara Montero and Rayana Shah clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory in No. 3 doubles.
 
LC State won five out of six singles matches. Monnayoo earned the win in No. 1 singles with a 6-3 victory in the first set and followed it up with a 6-2 win in the second set.
 
Shah battled through the only match that went three sets. She won the hard-fought contest by rallying back after dropping the first set 6-1, then closed out the match with 6-2 and 7-5 results in the second and third sets for a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory.
 
LC State also had strong results from Gwyn Heim and Montero to cement the victory for the Warriors. In No. 3 singles, Heim managed her opponent by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Montero had a strong showing and did not drop a single game in her No. 5 singles match for a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
 
Gettmann closed out the contest with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the sixth singles match.
 
UP NEXT
The Warriors play NCAA Division I Seattle U on Feb. 20 to begin a three-match stretch of NCAA DI opponents at the Tennis Center.
