SPOKANE, Wash. – Reid Thomas broke his own record in the shot put to highlight a productive day for LC State Track and Field at Whitworth's Jeff Rahn Classic. Fellow Orofino native
Ruby Kessinger also made her mark on the record book with a pair of throws.
"Another outstanding day for the throwers. Pretty excited for them," coach
Mike Collins said. "Also a nice day for Kobe in the 1500m who was up there amongst the national leaders, not quite a national standard, but that still might be a good enough mark at the end of the year. Looking forward to next week as we head into the University of Oregon which is an exciting place to be. To be in an arena with world-class athletes and just be in that type of setting should be fun."
Thomas, who broke the program record in the shot put set in 1999, bettered his mark with a throw of 15.05m to place fifth at the event. He later finished eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.06m with
Ian Roeber in 18
th (43.19m),
Alexzander Lambson in 23
