Tackett, Warriors Defeat Skylights to Improve to 21-0

Box Score HAVRE, Mont. – The LC women's basketball team had to face another tough road test Saturday heading into Havre against No.11 Montana State Northern.

Brittany Tackett scored a team-high 18 points and three other Warriors were in double figures to withstand the Skylights 75-66 to keep their undefeated streak alive.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 21-0 and 9-0 in the Frontier Conference. Montana State Northern falls to 15-4 and 5-3 in the conference. The win also extends LC's lead in the FC to 3.5 games over the Skylights and Montana Western.

Tackett scored her 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Caelyn Orlandi was next with 13 points as Megan Risinger and Natahnee Spencer tallied 11 apiece.

The Warriors didn't have their first lead until the 5:06 mark in the first quarter. Spencer made the first of her two free throws. Jossilyn Blackman added two buckets for a 5-point lead. The Skylights added a jumper at the end of the quarter, giving LC just a 1-point advantage.

Up three with 4:25 in the half, the Warriors would go on a 9-1 run to end the half. Lauren Johnson scored five points in the stretch as LC led 38-27 at the break.

MSUN did make a comeback in the third. Natalee Faupel's field goal with 3:42 remaining in the third cut the Warrior lead to just four. Faupel scored a game-high 27 points, three off her season-high. In the previous meeting earlier in the year, LC held Faupel to just 14 points. Orlandi and Blackman teamed up to give the Warriors an 8-point lead and some breathing room.

LC held their ground in the fourth quarter, allowing their lead to dip to five before ending the game on a 6-0 run consumed off free throws.

The Warriors shot 51.7 percent from the floor, three points above their season average and held MSUN to just 37.6 percent. LC was outrebounded by the Skylights 36-34 with both teams committing 10 turnovers combined (LC, six).

LC will be back on the court in the friendly confines of the Activity Center for a game against Rocky Mountain on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.
