MOBILE, Ala. – With a narrow victory against the Panthers earlier in the season, the LCSC women's tennis team had a little more breathing room this time around defeating Davenport 6-3 to advance to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.
The win gives the Warriors a crack at No. 1 overall seed Georgia Gwinnett tomorrow. The Grizzlies haven't lost in 29 matches and are a perfect 22-0 this season.
LCSC took two doubles matches from the Panthers.
Hannah Uhlenkott and
Stephanie Buckingham earned the win at No. 2 Doubles 8-3 and
Laura Rosselli/Jenna Roux defeated their No. 3 Doubles counterpart 8-3 as well.
Uhlenkott won her No. 2 Singles match 6-3, 6-2,
Stephanie Buckingham won her No. 3 Singles match 6-4, 6-4, Rosselli downed her opponent 6-2, 6-1 and Andres Begona defeated Bridget Barrett 6-3, 6-3 to claim four of the six singles matches.
With the win, the Warriors improved to 8-13, while Davenport ends their season with a 14-10 record.
