Box Score SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Lewis-Clark State College's volleyball team's road woes continued as the Warriors lost in three, 19-25, 22-25, 17-25, at The Masters Saturday night.
The Warriors (0-5) hit just .124 and had 28 kills to 35 for The Masters. Rachelle Gregg and
Natalie Batiste again were the leaders for LCSC with Gregg accounting for nine kills and Batiste seven.
Luana Thompson continued to grow as a defensive force with 10 digs and, again,
Lauren West was the assist leader with 14.
Coach
LaToya Harris-Alexander could point to a combination of breakdowns that led to the Warriors' downfall but first and foremost could be serve receive as they allowed nine service aces with none of their own.
"It's just moving our feet and getting in a balanced position," she said. "We're stuck on our heels."
The Warriors' struggles with the serve enabled The Masters to take control of the tempo, which is something LCSC has found is vital to its being successful.
"We forgot about the little things," Harris-Alexander said. "We didn't do the little things we need to do to be successful. We have to make sure we're staying together as a unit.
"I've seen them perform better than what we did today."
The Warriors play a round robin event Monday at Azuza Pacific before heading to Butte, Mont., for the Big Sky Challenge at Montana Tech. They open their home season on Sept. 8 against Walla Walla University with a Sept. 9 match against Whitman completing opening weekend at the LC Activity Center.
