PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Lewis-Clark State College's women's tennis team defeated No. 19 Arizona Christian University and Ottawa University Friday for its first victories of the season.
The Warriors won all six singles matches and No. 3 doubles for the 7-2 decision against Arizona Christian. They won 6-0 over Ottawa and didn't need to play the doubles matches after winning all of the singles matches – all in straight sets except No. 3 where
Jen Roux needed a 10-5 decision in the tiebreak to win.
Sophie Uhlenkott and
Kyla Collier were double winners for LCSC against Arizona Christian after pairing up to win No.3 doubles then notching singles victories. Collier won No. 6 in straight sets (7-6, 6-0), while Uhlenkott went to the tiebreak after losing her first set 1-6. She came back to win the second 6-3 before the 10-8 tiebreak at No. 4.
Laura Rosselli, at No. 2 singles, and Roux, at No. 3 singles, also won in straight sets with Rosselli winning 6-2, 6-4 and Roux sweeping 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 singles and at No. 5 singles,
Begona Andres and
Alexandra Barry, respectively, needed tiebreaks to secure their victories.
