LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State women's tennis team picked up two wins on Saturday, taking down the College of Idaho 8-1, and Whitworth 6-3.
"Back to back matches are always good for game development and endurance management. We will have two more days of double headers on the road against NAIA schools. We are starting to acquire the right mind set for doubles. The players are working hard at it," coach
Kai Fong said. "We had a slight advantage over both teams today as these were their season openers."
MATCH ONE: LCSC defeats College of Idaho 8-1
Begona Andres paired up with
Laura Diaz in No. 1 doubles for an 8-0 sweep, and
Sophie Uhlenkott and
Kyla Collier came away with an 8-3 win in the third slot. In No. 2 doubles,
Laura Rosselli and
Jen Roux were edged 8-7.
The Warriors swept singles play, taking all six matches in straight sets. Collier did not drop a game in her No. 6 match and defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Rosselli dropped just one game in No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1).

MATCH TWO: LCSC defeats Whitworth 6-3
The Whitworth Pirates came out strong, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Rosselli and Roux were the lone Warriors to come away with a doubles win after taking the No. 2 match 8-2.
The Warriors turned things around in singles play, storming back to take five of the six matches in straight sets. Uhlenkott had the strongest showing with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the fifth spot.
