LEWISTON, Idaho - The Lewis-Clark State women's tennis team faced another NCAA DI opponent on Sunday, their third of the season. Despite improvements from their last match, the Warriors fell 7-0.
"Seattle's players got road tough and hit their stride against us," coach Kai Fong said. "We were better than our last match and we will continue to improve."
"In the meantime, the players have to tolerate the losses and not allow that to undermine our game development progress," Fong added. "They have to be resilient during this painful growth stage."
The improvements the Warriors made could be seen in doubles play.
Begona Andres and Laura Diaz put up a strong fight in the top doubles match. The duo led for the majority of the match before Seattle U's pair battled back to win 7-6.
In No. 2 doubles, Alexandra Barry and Jen Roux fell 6-3, and Sophie Uhlenkott and Kyla Collier dropped the No. 3 match 6-1.
Roux had the most successful day in singles play. The senior won seven games before falling 7-6, 6-1 in the fourth spot. Uhlenkott also fought her way through, falling 7-5, 6-1 in No. 6 singles.
Laura Rosselli battled Seattle U's Hannah Glanin in the top slot and fell 6-2, 6-3. Andres won two games in her No. 2 singles match, falling 6-2, 6-0.
Diaz fell in No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Barry dropped the No. 5 matchup 6-0, 6-1.
The Warriors host another NCAA DI opponent on Friday in Montana State. The match is slated for 3 p.m. in the Activity Center.
