INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Warrior Men's and Women's Tennis teams traveled to Indiana this weekend for a set of matches against top-25 ranked NAIA teams. First on the docket for LC State was Marian College (Ind.) on Thursday afternoon. Marion's men's and women's teams are both ranked 25th in the latest NAIA tennis rankings. The Warrior women were edged 4-3, while the LC State men fell by a score of 5-2.

In doubles action, the women's team saw a clean 3-0 sweep for the first time this season, whereas the men's team fell in all three matches.
Begona Andres and
Alexis Maison took on the top doubles team from Marian and fought top push the match to a final tiebreaker set. Andres and Maison clutched out the victory by a score of 7-5.
Laura Diaz and
Sophie Uhlenkott (No. 2 doubles) put together a strong match with a 6-4 victory, and
Alexandra Barry and
Kyla Collier teamed up for a 6-3 win in third doubles.

Both Warrior teams saw success in singles in the matches.
Itaru Kikuchi picked up a strong 6-1, 7-6 victory in No. 2 singles, while and
Daniel Tevez picked up his first victory of the season (7-5, 6-3) in fifth singles.

Begona Andres and
Laura Diaz picked up individual wins in the women's match. Andres took the top singles match in a hard-fought three sets (4-6, 7-6, 10-5), while Diaz took down her No. 2 singles opponent in two (6-4, 7-5).

Although both teams ultimately fell in their matches, there were many positives seen by LC State Tennis coach
Kai Fong.

"We always want to be on the winning end but, what a good adjustment to all the conditions we faced," Fong said. "So close for both teams to earn their first road wins. Lots of gritty play all around."
