LEWISTON, Idaho – LC State Warrior Women's Tennis took down the College of Idaho Yotes once again on Saturday by a score of 7-0 at the outdoor courts of the new Lewiston High School. This was the second sweep of the year, the first coming earlier in the season against the Whitworth Pirates.

"It has been many, many years since we played an outdoor match in the LC Valley," Head Coach Kai Fong said. "We could not have asked for a better day. It was cloudy, there was little to no wind and the temperature was just right. The new LHS courts are so nice and the layout is conducive for viewing. A huge thanks to Corey Williams, the LHS Athletic Director in making this possible for us to play."

In doubles action, the highlights came from the teams of Begona Andres and Alexis Maison, and Laura Diaz and Alexandra Barry. The No.1 doubles squad of Andres and Maison took down their foes from C of I by a score of 6-2. LC State's No. 2 duo, Diaz and Barry, sealed the point for the doubles portion of the match by taking down their opponents with six straight games (6-0).

Nothing but success came from the singles portion of the match for the LC State Warriors. The whole squad got in on the fun this afternoon with five of the six singles matches being decided in the minimum of two sets. The match of the dual came from the No.4 singles match. LC State's Sophie Uhlenkott took on Leiana Almaraz in a close, competitive match. Uhlenkott took the first set by a score of 6-3. C of I's Almaraz then took the second set after a tiebreaker by a score of 7-6. Uhlenkott brought it back in set three to take the match.

"It was very good to see the players immediately adjust well to the outdoors after playing the match indoors last night," Fong said. "Each of the singles had to grind out the wins. They are learning that nothing will come easy. Everyone was impressive today. They kept the ball in play and worked each point. The goal now is to prepare for long, physical matches on the road."
