"It's nice to have a group of student-athletes who place emphasis on grade excellence," Head Coach
Kai Fong said. "The men are one of 29 teams, and the women are one of 39 teams earning the recognition. I am very proud of the academic hard work they continue to put in each year."
Five Warrior men and seven women were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Both Gavelin and
William Bruchard earned the award for the second time in their careers, while Cornelius Sea,
Andy Wu and
Kganya Ranamane did so for the first time. On the women's side, Andres,

Uhlenkott and Gavelin were both honored with the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, which is presented to student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements in ways that embody the legacy of tennis icon and humanitarian Arthur Ashe Jr.
"I am always amazed by how much Marcus and Sophie have accomplished during their time as Warriors," Fong said. "They are exemplary leaders in their academic fields. They are outstanding citizens in the campus community. They are highly respected by their peers and team members, and they took on many meaningful extracurricular roles in various campus organizations."
Andres was named the region's ITA Most Improved Senior, which honors a senior who showed the most improvement over the course of their collegiate career.
"I am so glad Bego returned for a fifth year," Fong added. "She gave it a go to end her LC career on a high not and got to experience some memorable victories."
