LEWISTON, Idaho – The Warrior Women's Tennis team picked up its first victory of the season on Saturday against NCAA Division III Whitworth. After dropping the doubles point, LC State rallied to take five singles matches for a 5-2 win over the Pirates in the Tennis Center.
Lina Boylan had a strong day to lead the team with a victory in both singles and doubles action. The freshman teamed up with
Catherine Khardina in the top doubles slot for a 6-4 win. She kept her momentum going in singles play to earn a three-set win in the top spot (7-6, 2-6, 6-3).
Senior
Kyla Collier bounced back after dropping her opening set in No. 3 singles to take her last two sets with a 6-2 score in both.
Maria Eduardo Santos da Silva,
Bonolo Molefe and
Elisiva Latu all took their matches in straight sets. Molefe dominated in the fifth spot, dropping just one game (6-1, 6-0), and Latu took her No. 6 match 6-1, 6-3. Da Silva battled through her first set before closing out the No. 4 singles match in two sets.
LC State Women's Tennis returns to the Tennis Center on Saturday for a contest against in-state rival College of Idaho at 3 p.m.
