PLAINVIEW, Texas – The Warrior women earned an automatic berth into the 2022 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship, presented by Bomgaars, by winning the Cascade Conference regular season, and are Plainview, Texas bound for the 2022 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championships Opening Round, presented by Ballogy. The first leg of the LC State Women's Basketball team's journey will be hosted by Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the Duer Bracket.
Sixth-seeded LC State will take on 11
th-seeded MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) on Friday at 6 p.m. PT. The winner of the contest will take on the winner of third-seeded Wayland Baptist (Texas) and the No. 14 seed Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT.

NO. 8 WAYLAND BAPTIST FLYING QUEENS (31-3, 20-2) – No. 3 seed
The Flying Queens of Wayland Baptist earned an automatic berth after winning the regular season and conference tournament in the Sooner Athletic Conference. This season marks the ninth straight, and 29
th overall, appearance in the national tournament. WBU will face OLLU on Friday.
The Queens are riding a 12-game winning streak heading into the tournament. WBU is 3-1 all-time against LC State, with the last meeting coming in 2014 when the Warriors won 85-79.
WBU's Kaylee Edgemon repeated at the SAC Player of the Year, while Jenna Cooper was also named First-Team All-SAC. Kaitlyn Edgemon earned third-team honors, and Angel Hayden was named honorable mention on the SAC All-Defensive Team. Kaylee Edgemon is a three-time All-American and leads the Queens in scoring at 19.8 points per game, which ranks 14h in the NAIA, while her 241 field goals rank third in the nation. She has scored in double-figures in all but one game the last two seasons. Cooper ranks third in the NAIA in total assists with 172 (5.9 per game). She is second on the team in scoring (18.2) and steals (1.7) and third in rebounds (6.9).
Kaitlyn Edgemon is third on the team in scoring (15.5) and second in rebounds (7.7) and steals (1.7). Hayden leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game, and steals (2.8), is second in assists (3.9) and fourth in scoring (9.9).
Wayland Baptist ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA in field goals made (1003), assists per game (19.2) and points per game (83.6).
NO. 19 LC STATE WARRIORS (27-4, 19-3) – No. 6 seed
The LC State Warriors wrapped up the season at home in the Cascade Conference Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, and fell to Southern Oregon. The contest was just the second on-court loss for the Warriors this season.
Maddie Holm notched her 13
th double-double in the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Callie Stevens has headlined the Warriors all season and was rewarded with Cascade Conference Player of the Year honors. The first-team selection leads the conference in scoring (18.6) and 3-points made per game (2.9). She is currently fourth in 3-point percentage (.397). She netted 85 total 3-pointers, 14 more than anyone else in the CCC, which notches Stevens in the top-six all-time in the LC State record books for a single season.
Holm was also voted First-Team All-CCC and is averaging a double-double with 10.4 rebounds per game and 11.9 points. She leads the Warriors in steals with 50, and is second in 3-point percentage (.379).
Sara Muehlhausen garnered All-Cascade Conference Honorable Mention honors after leading the conference in blocks (62). She is shooting a team-best .486 from the floor.
LC State ranks 11
th in the NAIA in field goal percentage defense (.340). Stevens is 26
th in the NAIA in scoring average and is 15
th in 3-points made per game. Holm is 23
rd in rebounds per game and Muehlhausen is 18
th in blocked shots per game.
MIDAMERICA NAZARENE PIONEERS (18-11, 14-5) – No. 11 seed
MidAmerica Nazarene is making its 11
th straight trip to the national tournament as an at-large bid out of the Heart of America Conference. The Pioneers went 14-5 in conference play and will open the tournament against LC State.
Three MNU Pioneers were named to the all-conference team, with TrEI'Shawn Smith and Megan Scott grabbing first-team honors and Makayla Gooch being named second team. Smith leads MNU in scoring at 13.3 points per game, and in steals with 46. Scott is the team's top rebounder with 6.2 per game to go with 11.3 points, and Gooch is the MNU leader in assists (124).
LC State has never faced MidAmerica Nazarene.
OUR LADY OF THE LAKE SAINTS (20-10, 14-0) – No. 14 seed
The Saints will make their 10
th trip to the national tournament after winning the Red River Athletic Conference west division regular season and tournament titles. OLLU earned an automatic bid and will face host Wayland Baptist on Friday. The Saints are currently riding a 16-game winning streak.
OLLU completed an undefeated RRAC regular season with a 14-0 mark and won the postseason tournament by defeating LSU-Shreveport in the championship game. Natalia Trevino earned the RRAC MVP award for her play throughout the postseason tournament, where she averaged 19.3 points per game and had a 49.5 shooting percentage. Keviona Barber was named the RRAC Player of the Year by averaging a team-high 17.7 points per game during the season.
