ALEXANDRIA, La. – LC State Women's Tennis dropped its Friday match in the LSU Alexandria Invitational to No. 14 Loyola (La.) 4-1 on Friday to fall to 2-1 in the tournament and 6-6 overall.
The second scheduled match against LSU Shreveport (La.) was suspended due to darkness and will conclude after the scheduled meeting between the Warriors and No. 9 William Carey (Miss.) at 8:30 a.m. PT on Saturday.
"Another good day of tennis even though we lost 4-1. In the remaining matches, we were up a set and in the midst of a third," LC tennis coach Kai Fong said. "We are getting more and more settled."
Ines Steeman was able to earn a victory in No. 6 singles versus Ana Cecilia Castillo 6-3, 6-4. Beatriz Lambru won the opening set in No. 2 singles against Fatima Vasquez before that match was called off after Loyola reached four points. Lambru led 6-1 3-5.
April Buckingham rallied from a first set defeat against Leonie Schmidt in No. 5 singles, but pushed it to a third set before that match was also called.

The Warrior women conclude the LSU Alexandria Invitational on Saturday with a pair of matches. LC will take on No. 9 William Carey at 8:30 a.m. PT before completeing the match with LSU Shreveport.
