Four Warriors Earn Individual Titles to Open CCC Meet

RESULTS
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Warriors opened the 2023 Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, with four individual titles and eight all-conference honors (top-3 finish) on Friday. LC State Track and Field also had three more provisional marks and one automatic hit for outdoor nationals. Halfway through the meet, the Warrior men sit in second place with 70 points.
 
THE MEN
Griffen Parsells won the 1,500m with a personal-best time of 3:54.28. The time is a provisional mark for nationals. Conner May finished eighth (3:58.44) and Kobe Wessels was 10th (3:59.28).
 
London Kirk took the top spot in the 400m and tied his school record with a time of 47.97. The time, which he ran earlier this season, is an A standard for nationals.
 
LC State earned all-conference honors in the 4x400m with a school-record time of 41.37. The team of Jedidiah Barnaby, Kirk, Jordan Castillo and Krabbenhoft finished second to earn All-CCC accolades.
 
Krabbenhoft hit a PR in the high jump, the second-best in school history, to place second in the conference after clearing a height of 1.96m. Braden Wuthrich was seventh (1.87m) and Iam Gardom was 15th (1.73m).
 
Gardom finished sixth in the 110m hurdles with a personal-best time of 16.17. Caleb Moore was seventh (17.06). Christian Bothwell placed sixth in the long jump with the third-best leap in school history (6.80m), and Trenton Johnson was 13th (6.42m).
 
Brycen Brown was the first LC State men's runner to hit the track when he finished eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:58.96). Connor Turpin finished fifth in the 10,000m (31:46.03), Brycen Kempton was 13th (32:48.71) and Connor Alexander was 16th (33:55.12).
 
Jaycob Atencio led a group of Warrior throwers in the hammer with a ninth-place finish (45.23m). Jack Hardee was 15th (38.73m), Tanner Beltz-Childs placed 16th (38.45m) and Jon Wattles finished 17th (37.50m). Sam Weller was 10th in the shot put (13.17m) and Moore was 13th (12.61m).
 
THE WOMEN
Madigan Kelly took home the 100m hurdles crown for the first time in her career. After finishing second last season, the Lewiston native clocked a time of 14.14 to win the event. Ashley Britt also earned All-CCC honors with her third-place finish in the event. Her time of 15.04 ranks third in the LC record book. Jennah Carpenter finished eighth (15.53).
 
Carpenter won the high jump (1.68m) to earn All-Cascade Conference recognition. She bettered her national standard to an automaitc in her quest to defend her national title from indoor season. Freshman Emma Harless was 11th (1.53m).
 
Grogan earned all-conference honors in the 400m to lead a group of four Warriors. She ran a time of 57.96 to place second, Emily Collins also earned All-CCC accolades in third (58.02), Geraldin Correa was eighth (59.85) and Dalli Elison was 15th (1:02.18).
 
Freshman Chloe Overberg, who joined the team during the outdoor season, hit a provisional time in the 10,000m run. She finished fifth overall with a time of 38:08.79.
 
The women's 4x400m relay team of Lewiston products Grogan, Collins, Carpenter and Kelly just missed a national-qualifying time with their fourth-place finish. The team ran the second-fastest time in program history at 48.06.
 
Grace Dixon was the first Warrior on the track and finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase (12:38.52). Brooklyn Shell was 14th in the 1,500m (4:55.89), Grace Tiegs was 17th (5:08.48) and Dixon was (5:20.93).
 
Throwers Cassidy Henderson and Grace Osborne finished 19th (33.51m) and 23rd (30.45m), respectively, in the hammer throw. Osborne also placed 12th in the shot put (9.76m).
