Maria Eduarda Santos da Silva wrapped up her Warrior career on Saturday with a victory in singles action. The win earned the lone point for LC State Women's Tennis in a 6-1 loss to the visiting Alberta Pandas. The Warrior women ended the short fall season with a 1-1 split against Alberta.

"It was good learning over two days of tennis against the five-time Canadian National Champions," Head Coach Kai Fong said. "The competition against Alberta elevated our performance on Friday especially. We had a thrilling win against the Pandas.

"Today, senior, Maria Silva got to end her college career with a comeback win at No. 6 singles," Fong added. "We will miss her infectious smile and her analytical mind. It is a blessing she was part of the programs."

April Buckingham and
Heidi Moyo combined at No. 2 doubles to earn a 6-3 victory for the Warriors. The win was the lone win in doubles action for LC State in the match. Third doubles duo
Carisa Liebenberg and Silva battled in their contest but fell 6-3.

Senior
Paige Noble-Lucas pushed her opponent in No. 3 singles to the edge in a tight battle. After dropping the first set, Noble-Lucas took the second frame to force a deciding third set. Alex Jewitt of Alberta earned the victory in a tie breaker set (6-1, 4-6, 10-8).

Silva capped her LC State tenure in the No. 6 singles spot. The senior leader with numerous academic accolades pushed her way through three sets to end her career on a high note. Silva dropped the first set but responded well with a 6-2 win in set two. She took the match in a tie-breaking third set (4-6, 6-2, 10-8).

Warrior Tennis will break for the winter before returning to action in the spring.
