FOREST GROVE, Ore. – LC State Women's Tennis, receiving vote in the national poll, impressed in singles play to earn a 5-2 victory over NCAA Division III opponent Pacific on Saturday.
Initially, the Boxers jumped out to an early lead. They claimed the doubles point but faced some resistance from duo
Rayana Shah and
Ana Govea. The pair battled to a 7-5 win in No. 2 doubles.
Naiara Montero clinched the first singles win of the day with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match. In No. 6 singles,
Carisa Liebenberg commanded her contest and did not drop more than two games in each of her two set wins. She won her match with scores of 6-1 in the first set, and 6-2 in the second set.
Junior
Gwyn Heim was equally dominant in No. 4 singles. Heim handled her opponent with scores of 6-2 in the first set and 6-1 in the second set.
Rylie Gettmann earned a win in straight sets in No. 5 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-3.
Shah earned a win in the top spot after her opponent retired from the match. The junior dropped the first set 7-6(7-4), but battled to a 7-6(8-6) win in set two. She was ahead 3-0 in the third when her opponent pulled out of the match.

The Warriors are back at the Tennis Center to face off against NCAA Division I Idaho State on March 14.
