Greene was part of the 2008 national championship team that finished 58-7 for a .892 winning percentage, fourth best in program history. The team, however, had to battle back through the loser's bracket at the national tournament to win three straight games and the title. LC started the 10-team tournament in dominant style by defeating Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 19-0 and Oklahoma City 9-5 in a 12-inning thriller. The Warriors, however, fell to top seed Lee University (Tenn.) 5-2. LC then defeated Spring Arbor (Mich.) 9-4 and beat Lee twice, 7-6 and 8-3, the latter in the championship game.

During the regular season, the team set a program record by posting shutouts in five consecutive games. The team also set a record for most sacrifice flies in a season with 82, and tied a record by sending 21 batters to the plate and collecting 16 hits in a single inning in a game against British Columbia.

For the season, the club hit .347 and held opponents to a .231 average. LC outscored the opposition 601-232 and the pitching staff combined for a 2.92 earned run average with 549 strikeouts compared to 74 walks.

Green was a First-Team All-American selection, while catcher Brian Ward and pitcher Matt Fitts were Second-Team selections, and pitcher Justin Mace was an Honorable Mention pick. Joining those four on the Series squad were Ryan Anderson, Josh Ashenbrenner, Nic Benton, Kevin Camacho, Michael Guerrero, Sean Halton, Blaine Hardy, Tyler Knigge, Ikaika Lester, Chris Lum, Paul Martin, Nick Masters, Bernard Pena, Micky Pingree, Mike Rivera, Matt Stabelfeld, Chris Valencia, Dustin Willis, Ryan Woods and Brent Wyatt. Ed Cheff was the head coach and was assisted by Gus Knickrehm, Seth McCauley, Roberto Saenz, and Matt Vogel.
