Medina pitched two seasons for LCSC in 1982 and '83 and won 13 games both seasons, which ties him with four other players for the most wins by an LCSC pitcher in a season. His 26 career wins is the most of any two-year player in program history and ties him for fourth overall. He earned All-American honors both seasons and is just one of four LCSC baseball players to earn first-team honors twice.

Medina posted a 1.81 ERA in 1982 as he allowed 23 earned runs in 114 innings. He also struck out 70 and pitched nine complete games. The following year, he threw 118 innings and struck out 103, which ranks fifth on the LCSC all-time list. He also pitched 10 complete games, which ranks second on LCSC's all-time single-season list.
